Burns’ Daughter, Granddaughter Endorse William Aila, Jr. for Governor
I support William Aila in his run for Governor of Hawaii because I believe he possesses the qualitiies we need to get Hawaii back on track to be the Hawaii it should be. He is a man of the people, one of us. He wants what we want and he is as passionate about it as we are.
He is a hands-on leader who works well with others to find solutions to our most pressing problems. He is vitally interested in solving the issue of affordable housing as the key to all aspects of affordable living in Hawaii, a rapidly escalating problem for our people.
I admire his thoughtful and creative intelligence, his quick grasp of issues, his receptivity and openness, his willingness to act on his beliefs, and his strength of character. Most of all, I am impressed by his honesty and integrity. These are qualities I learned to value deeply as a child."

"Perpetuating Hawaiian culture depends on people with the conviction to sustain it through their practice, their integrity, and their energy. William Aila, Jr. and David Henkin have consistently demonstrated that conviction, opposing Senate Bill 8 (an attempt in 1997 by then-senators Randy Iwase and Malama Solomon to eliminate our ancient practices of traditional and customary gathering), working to revive cultural practice at Makua, and in countless other ways."
