Environment & Sustainability
We must practice aloha `aina (love of the land) so future generations can enjoy all the things that make life in Hawai`i so special. Promoting sustainability, conserving energy and a team effort in becoming responsible stewards for Hawai`i's environment is paramount.
For Hawai‘i’s Environment
- Adequately fund existing environmental programs
- Protect our waters from polluted runoff
- Require curbside recycling
- Ensure adequate review of potentially harmful projects before they go forward
For Reliable Energy
- Reduce Hawai‘i’s dependence on fossil fuels
- Promote renewable energy sources
- Provide incentives for energy conservation
For Sustainable Development
- Implement Smart Growth to fight sprawl
- Promote public transportation, create dedicated bike lanes and ensure pedestrian safety
- Stop gentlemen estates on agricultural lands
- Require necessary infrastructure (schools, wastewater treatment, traffic management, etc.) before new development goes forward
