AILA JOINS RACE FOR DEMOCRATIC GUBERNATORIAL NOMINATION

William Aila Jr., a life-long resident and active member in the community, announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for governor.

Aila's campaign is focused on the need to expand supplies of affordable housing, promote development that meets community needs, protect Hawai‘i’s host culture, improve environmental stewardship, and make government more responsive to its people’s basic needs.

William Aila, announced his candidacy on April 28, 2006. Surrounded by supporters from all walks of life, he stressed he will work hard, together with the people of Hawai‘i, to make Hawai‘i a better place for all of us to live.

“Too many people work two or three jobs and still struggle to make ends meet.  Too many of our children leave the islands because they can’t afford a place to rent, much less buy.  Too many times our government forgets its number one priority should be improving the lives of the people who live here,” Aila said.

“We need a governor who can work with the legislature to build the consensus needed to solve the challenges facing Hawai‘i,” Aila stressed.  “I have a proven track record of working with people from all walks of life and all political affiliations to reach common sense solutions to difficult problems.”
